P. Kunhiraman Nair (1906-1978) was a famous Malayalam poet from Kerala, India. He was born in Bellikoth near Kanhangad and lived a wandering life, moving across Kerala and meeting many people. He spent many years in Thiruvilwamala, a peaceful town known for its beauty and cultural significance, which greatly inspired his poetry.
Nair worked as a school teacher in places like Koodali near Kannur and Kollengode in Palakkad. He wrote many poems, as well as stories, articles, and plays. His autobiography, "Kaviyude Kaalpaadukal" (The Footmarks of a Poet), is well-known in Malayalam literature. The beautiful region of Valluvanad also inspired him, and his poems often included references to Kathakali, a traditional dance-drama from Kerala.
Nair received awards from both the Kerala Sahithya Akademi and the Central Sahitya Akademi. He initially worked at a printing press in Thrissur and later published a newspaper in Kannur. Known as 'Kavimaash' (poet teacher), he retired from teaching in 1961. He died on May 27, 1978, in Thiruvananthapuram, but his literary work continues to be remembered and celebrated
